About Us

In 2010, DC Style Is Real sprang almost fully formed from a spell of not so fun unemployment.  After writing dozens of cover letters, a friend recommended writing about something I do enjoy: DC itself!  Since moving to DC for graduate school, I soaked up the surprising, exciting, and hopefully free things DC had to offer.

fieldtripBut the stereotype of DC as a boring government town persists, so DC Style Is Real remains
to shine a light on DC’s many cultural accomplishments and delights.  DC Style Is Real itself has been featured as one of DC’s best blogs by Spotted by Locals, and has been
accepted to Google’s Field Trip app.

Make sure to get in touch if you would like to write for the blog or if you have an event you’d like to recommend.  Send mail to dcstyleisreal@gmail.com.

  5. I have a charity fashion show coming up August 7th at Carnegie Library,a portion of the proceeds will benefit Sasha Bruce House. I would like to know, if someone from your style or fashion Department can come out and cover the event?

I’m glad I found your blog! I moved to DC a year ago but I’m in a funemployment phase and just starting my website, just like Haley.
