Station 4 Rolls Into Southwest

Quietly tucked away within the little-quadrant-that-could (Southwest) is Station 4, a new-ish restaurant and lounge conveniently located at 4th and M, right across from the Waterfront Metro stop. Arena Stage goers can collectively rejoice — finally, a place to go before your show.

Despite Tom Sietsema’s less-than-glowing review, I found the spot to be pretty stellar. The decor is sleek and modern, and interestingly pulls off dark and bright at the same time. A bar with a couch-laden lounge area flanks the open dining room, filled with posh red leather round booths and chandeliers and a very impressive gas fireplace. Definitely a good place to take a date.

The menu is fancy, new, and delicious. Start with one of their creative small plates (buffalo chicken lollipops or crab stuffed piquillo peppers) and graduate on to the entrees, which range in the low to mid $20s. The excellent seared salmon came bathed in a sesame broth and topped with julienne-cut scallions and baby bok choy with mushrooms. Baller.
The service was outstanding and prompt. Overall, I give it an A+ for ambiance, A for production, and B+ for cuisine. Recommended.
