A Tree Grows in Brookland

Known for being the home of Catholic University, Brookland, the long-neglected sleepy neighborhood in Northeast, is getting a much-needed shot in the arm. Several large mixed-use construction projects are being built in walking distance of the Metro stop, and new restaurants are popping up here and there. Neighborhood stalwart Colonel Brooks Tavern, is being torn down for yet more construction, despite opposition from some longtime residents. EYA recently unveiled Chancellor’s Row, an ambitious project of new luxury rowhouses. And the 12th Street business corridor has tons of potential. Gentrification is slowly creeping in.

So, does Brookland become the new H Street? What do you think?
