Fine Lines Paint Jam Comes to Rhode Island Ave April 30

After creating DC’s largest piece of public art at NOMA Storey Park, Hip-Hop nonprofit Words Beats & Life Inc. is bringing DC a 900 ft. long canvas and the artistic stylings of almost 100 artists from around the country for a full day of the arts on April 30th at 514-680 Rhode Island Ave NE at the Fine Lines Paint Jam as part of International Jazz Day! Step into an aesthetic dreamland and paint alongside some of the best artists on the east coast!

Over their 14 year history, Hip-Hop nonprofit Words Beats & Life Inc. has created hundreds of THOUSANDS of square ft. of public art around the District connecting youth artists with professionals to foster the city’s next generation into its creative economy. WBL is constantly creating a Bridge to the Future, the theme for this year’s Paint Jam. Journey alongside the enormous canvas as the work of dozens of artists intertwines into one masterpiece escorting you towards an open arena of live music, fresh food trucks, art galleries, a giant chess set, free arts tutorials and more.

The Fine Lines Paint Jam is the clearest window into safe, public spaces for anyone, especially youth, to come and create without the worry of incarceration knowing full well that #ArtisNotaCrime. If passed, a new Anti-Graffiti Amendment will “increase the fines for willfully possessing graffiti material,” including penalties “not less than $2,500, or imprison[ment] for a period not to exceed 180 days, or both. Make sure the powers that be know that there are other ways to protect DC than to punish the people who live and create its culture. Come to Paint Jam!
