Pottery on the Hill Show & Sale Saturday, October 29th

pottery-on-the-hill-1

Pottery on the Hill is simply one of the most unique pottery shows in the country, offering something for both the most avid pottery collector and the casual observer. With the opportunity to meet the artists in person and hear the inspiration behind their works, you can learn how to use these functional, dependable pieces at home.

Seventeen of the nation’s top ceramic artists gather at Hill Center, bringing with them a wide array of bright, patterned ceramic table platters, fanciful mugs, one-of-a-kind cups, cooking pots and astonishing vases and whimsies. Many hundreds of pieces of their work, many never exhibited before, will be for sale. The show and sale runs Saturday from 10 am-5 pm and Sunday from 11 am-4 pm.

New this year is the Pottery on Wheels! (POW!) Truck. On Saturday and Sunday during the show, the POW! Truck will be in the Hill Center plaza to let the public make pottery with Sam Taylor and several other renowned potters. Come and make pottery with us with the “Make a Cup, Take a Cup” program – make a cup, decorate a cup and then trade the cup for one of the hundreds of finished and fired cups on display. This is a great way to get kids some hands-on art time!

Meet the Potters: Mary Barringer (Shelburne Falls, MA), Bob Briscoe (Harris, MN), Bulldog Pottery-Bruce Gholson & Samantha Henneke (Seagrove, NC), Kyle Carpenter (Asheville, NC), Trista Depp Chapman (Fredericksburg, VA), Naomi Dalglish (Bakersville, NC), Dan Finnegan (Fredericksburg, VA), Ryan Greenheck (Philadelphia, PA), Rick Hensley (Floyd, VA), Michael Hunt (Bakersville, NC), Matthew Hyleck (Baltimore, MD), Matthew Metz (Alfred Station, NY), Ronan Peterson (Chapel Hill, NC), Donna Polseno (Floyd, VA), Stacy Snyder (Arlington, VA) and Catherine White (Warrenton, VA).

Also, don’t miss the Pottery on the Hill Preview Reception on Friday, October 28 to guarantee yourself the first opportunity to view and purchase items!
