Red Bull 3Style World DJ Championships, the largest global DJ competition in existence, is excited to announce the official roster and event details for the 2017 USA Championships in Washington D.C. on November 29, 2017. Six of the nation’s best DJ’s will take over D.C. for one night of non-stop music at U Street Music Hall with the hopes of being crowned the 2017 Red Bull 3Style USA Champion.
Since 2010, Red Bull 3Style has been constantly advancing the world of DJing and turntablism as well as entertaining audiences all over the globe. With special guest DJ judges including, 2¢ (consisting of Four Color Zack, 2012 3Style World Champion, and Craze), 2014 3Style World Champion Eskei83, and proud D.C. resident and 2016 US 3Style Champion, Trayze, the 2017 USA Championships will be a night to remember.
ABOUT THE ROSTER:
With over 200 applicants for the US Championships this year, only six DJ’s were selected to compete. The 2017 finalists this year include:
- Boi Jeanius from Chicago, IL, who was a finalist in last year’s US Championships, is known for being one of the top DJ’s coming from the Midwest and has a live show every weekend on 103.5 KISS FM
- DJ Ease from Las Vegas, NV, who excels in mixing multiple genres, has supported the Beastie Boys, Big Sean, B.O.B., and holds club residencies at Harrahs Pool After Dark in Atlantic City, NJ and Hard Rock’s Body English nightclub in Las Vegas
- DJ Fingersmith from New York, NY, kicked off his career at the young age of 14 and is now a master DJ with more than a decade of experience. He’s spun for the Seattle Seahawks, opened for Golden Rule and played parties on the Royal Caribbean as a guest DJ
- DJ Frazier Davisfrom Los Angeles, CA, is the only female DJ of the competition and the first female DJ to take part in the 3Style US Championships. Her open format DJing style comes from a lifetime connection with music, including Hip Hop, R&B, Dance, Pop, Latin, Dancehall/Reggae, Rock, Funk & Soul
- DJ Diggy Dutchfrom Austin, TX, is one of the top night club DJ’s in San Antonio and has performed at SXSW and has toured with local artists in Texas
- DJ Bofrom Washington D.C., is currently in rotation at the premier venues in the DC music and nightlife scene. He works to incorporate vast musical genres in his sets which has allowed him to share the stage with Drake, Future, Dawn Richard, and Lil Uzi Vert
THE RULES:
The rules for the 2017 USA Championships are the same as those for the regional qualifiers. Each DJ will be given 15 minutes to impress both the crowd and the judges with their originality, skills and track selections. The only creative constraint the DJ’s are given is that they MUST play at least three distinct genres of music, hence the name “3Style.” The judges will then use the following four criteria – originality, skills, music selection and crowd response – to crown this year’s 3Style USA Champion, who will then get a chance to test their mettle at the Red Bull 3Style World Finals in Krakow, Poland from February 5-11th, 2018.
THE EVENT:
The Red Bull 3Style 2017 USA Championships will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 9pm at U Street Music Hall (1115A U St NW, Washington D.C., 20009) in Washington, D.C. Pioneer DJ is the official event partner.
General admission is 18+ with a valid ID, and tickets can be purchased for $15 in advance here, or $18 at the door.
THE HISTORY OF RED BULL THRE3STYLE:
Red Bull 3Style began as an underground experiment nine years ago in Western Canada. In 2010, the event went global for the first time, effectively changing the face of modern DJ battles by pitting ten countries’ top DJ’s against each other.
