Weekend East City Event Round Up: Halloween Edition

Hill Center Pottery Exhibition
The Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital presents a group exhibition of 15 potters from around
the United States. This ambitious project is open to the public on Saturday October 27 from
10am to 5pm and Sunday October 28 from noon to 4pm. A cocktail reception on Friday October
26 requires tickets.

The Hill Center is located at 921 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE

Friday October 26

Tilted Torch Spook-o-rama (10pm)
The eclectic cast of Tilted Torch wants you to indulge in “unearthly delights” at the Red Palace
this Friday. The Halloween themed variety show features performance art, burlesque and
musical numbers. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

Saturday October 27

CONNERSMITH (artist talk at 5pm; opening 6pm to 8pm)
Conner Contemporary Art is now CONNERSMITH. The gallery presents Nothing Lasts
Forever by Scottish sculptors Kenny Hunter and Julie Roberts. The highly accomplished and
world renown duo’s exhibition focuses on childhood tensions such as playfulness and cruelty,
dreams and fears.

CONNERSMITH is located at 1358 Florida Avenue NE

Open Studio dc (6pm to 8pm)

Right next door to CONNERSMITH, Open Studio dc will show new works by Carolyn Hartman.
Open Studio dc is part exhibition space, part studio and part classroom.

Zombie Night (starting at 6pm)
If you really want to go all out this Halloween, then look no further than the Zombie Festival at
the SE Fairgrounds next to Nationals Stadium. Billed as “the largest zombie fest in the country”,
this event has it all- zombie movies, cash bars, a DJ, artwork and a costume contest. Tickets
are $20 in advance or at the door.
