McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) will open a new exhibition, With the Grain: Paintings by J.T. Kirkland, on April 13, 2017 at MPA@ChainBridge. This exhibition will feature multipart and shaped paintings on wood. The Opening Exhibition Reception will take place Thursday, April 20 at MPA@ChainBridge from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. Make sure to RSVP.
Focusing on line, color, form and structure, J.T. Kirkland combines wood and paint into uniquely warm abstract paintings in the minimalist vein. Using the grain of the wood as both guide and essential component, Kirkland incorporates and contrasts the organic nature of the material with the crisp intentionality of hard-edged blocks of color.
With the Grain: Paintings by J.T. Kirkland will be on display at MPA@ChainBridge April 13 through June 3.
