The Southeast Porchfest will be held in Hillcrest, Sunday, May 19, 2019, 12pm-6pm, in collaboration with the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Hillcrest community.
Porchfest is a day of mini-concerts held on front porches and lawns. This year’s Southeast Porchfest will be the largest free outdoor music festival held East of the Anacostia River, in DC. The event will kick off outside of the Francis Gregory Library, 3660 Alabama Avenue, SE. The final lineup will be announced the second week of May. “Last year’s Southeast Porchfest ended with the crowd dancing in the streets,” said Porchfest DC organizer, Ayanna Smith. “There is no doubt that this year’s festival will be even bigger and better! We are particularly excited to feature some of the area’s top emerging talent as well as the opportunity to showcase one of the most beautiful communities in Washington, DC.”
Porchfest DC is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization managed by a volunteer board that is passionate about creating opportunities for communities to unite through celebration of the arts. Hear some of the musicians now on the website and below.
Currently, there are more than 60 volunteers who have signed up to assist with planning, hosting and performing at the Southeast Porchfest. Porchfest DC anticipates more than 50 poets, singers, bands, DJs and other artists representing a variety of genres will perform at the Southeast Porchfest.
